Ghaziabad Mayor asked to pay for her security

Ghaziabad, Mar 3 (PTI) The Ghaziabad Mayor has been issued a notice by the District Nagar Nigam asking her to pay Rs 1.72 lakh incurred by the Uttar Pradesh Government on providing her security. Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Additional Municipal Commissioner Nirupma Mishra on Thursday issued the notice to Mayor Damayanti Goel asking her to deposit 10 per cent of the security expenses. Following the order, Goel today claimed that being the Mayor of the city, she enjoys the status of state ministers who do not have to pay for their security cover. She said the Nagar Nigam can withdraw her security, but she will not pay the amount as it is "absolutely illegal and wrong." PTI COR ASY

GDA, builders unite to decongest Raj Nagar Extension

GHAZIABAD: Builders in  Raj Nagar Extension  and the Ghaziabad Development Authority  (GDA) have joined hands to put an end to congestion woes in the area. The move would give a breather to the people commuting through the area and builders believe that this will entice more people into buying a property in the area. "To execute the proposed traffic decongestion plan for NH 58 and other roads in Ghaziabad,  GDA  has decided to complete these works in association with Raj Nagar Extension Developers Association," said Gaurav Gupta, spokesperson of the Association. Mr Gupta added, "The authorities propose to restructure of the NH-58 stretch - from Meerut-crossing (near new bus stand) to ALT-cut."  The builder and GDA team will undertake maintenance of the road and close down illegal cuts on the road (used for taking U-tunr) which have been the main reason behind the mess.
