अभय वाजपेयी तीन दिन की रिमांड पर (NRHM SCAM)

गाजियाबाद :  चर्चित एनआरएचएम घोटाला मामले में सीबीआई एक बार फिर यूपीएसआईडीसी के पूर्व डायरेक्टर अभय कुमार वाजपेयी से पूछताछ करेगी। इसके लिए 16 से 18 जून तक का रिमांड मिल गया है। सीबीआई की स्पेशल कोर्ट में शुक्रवार को अभय कुमार वाजपेयी की रिमांड याचिका पर सुनवाई हुई। बचाव पक्ष की ओर से याचिका का विरोध किया गया और कहा गया कि सीबीआई जब पहले ही कई बार पूछताछ कर चुकी है तो अब रिमांड की मांग क्यों की जा रही है। सीबीआई ने तर्क दिया कि वह एनआरएचएम घोटाले के तीन मामलों में आरोपी हैं। अभी उनसे एक ही मामले में पूछताछ हुई है। दोनों पक्षों को सुनने के बाद कोर्ट ने अभय कुमार वाजपेयी को तीन दिन की रिमांड की मंजूरी दी। उल्लेखनीय है कि वाजपेयी पहले से ही एनआरएचएम घोटाले में जेल में बंद हैं। उन्हें अंतरिम जमानत मिल गई थी, जिसे बाद कोर्ट ने इसे निरस्त कर दिया।

Work on Ghaziabad line to hit Rail Traffic

Railway passengers travelling in and out of the city between Friday and Wednesday will be in for major troubles as Northern Railway has decided to remodel its yard and make the third line between Ghaziabad and Aligarh operational. There will be eight mega traffic blocks from June 15 to June 19. Traffic will be blocked for two hours from 1am to 3am on June 15, for six hours from 10.30pm on June 16 to 4.30am on June 17, and for three hours from 1am to 4am on June 18 and June 19, resulting in at least 50 trains being either regulated or partially cancelled.

Zilla Ghaziabad: Shriya Saran to do an item number

Ghaziabad: Everybody is doing item song in Bollywood these days and the latest to join the list is Shriya Saran. The actress will groove to an item number in Sanjay Dutt-starrer 'Zilla Ghaziabad'. "I have done an item song in 'Zilla Ghaziabad'. It is a fun song. Every time I used to see myself on the monitor, I used to think 'Is that me'? As an actor, it is fun to experiment with your image. I have done many item numbers in the South, but this would be my first in any Hindi film," Shriya told IANS, but didn't reveal the title of the song. NGO holds 'People's Parliament' against land acquisition

Ghaziabad:  A Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) on Sunday organised a 'People's Parliament' in the district to protest against the government's land acquisition policy. The 'Jan Sansad', organised by NGO Subhash Chandra Bose Sansthan, criticised the "weak" land acquisition policy in the state and claimed successive governments had forcefully acquired agricultural land in Ghaziabad district. The day-long meeting was attended by different Opposition parties and farmers' organisations. "Farmers are forced to physically prevent the government from acquiring their land. They have no other place to go as the present land acquisition policy, if there is any, is oppressive," General Secretary of BJP Kisan Morcha, Narsesh Sirohi, said.

GDA, builders unite to decongest Raj Nagar Extension

GHAZIABAD: Builders in  Raj Nagar Extension  and the Ghaziabad Development Authority  (GDA) have joined hands to put an end to congestion woes in the area. The move would give a breather to the people commuting through the area and builders believe that this will entice more people into buying a property in the area. "To execute the proposed traffic decongestion plan for NH 58 and other roads in Ghaziabad,  GDA  has decided to complete these works in association with Raj Nagar Extension Developers Association," said Gaurav Gupta, spokesperson of the Association. Mr Gupta added, "The authorities propose to restructure of the NH-58 stretch - from Meerut-crossing (near new bus stand) to ALT-cut."  The builder and GDA team will undertake maintenance of the road and close down illegal cuts on the road (used for taking U-tunr) which have been the main reason behind the mess. Ghaziabad/Noida: The woes of the people of NCR's Noida and Ghaziabad areas have been compounded, thanks to the twin crises of power cuts and water shortage. Noida residents have complained of a significantly reduced supply of water. In sectors such as 10, 11, 12, 15, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 56 and 71, the problem of reduced hours of supply has emerged over the past ten days. Many other sectors are reportedly receiving saline mixed with 'soft' Ganga water. "Our house is situated on the ninth floor and very little water reaches that level. NCPCR lodges FIR against Ghaziabad NGO

A team from NCPCR, led by its member Dr. Yogesh Dube, visited Ghaziabad District on the June 4 and busted the NGO's illegal functioning. Dr Yogesh Dube, who is also the Chairman, Core Committee on Child Rights in Uttar Pradesh, informed after the illegal home was exposed by the Commission, that the children have been safely transferred to Government Children’s Home in Rampur and Government Children’s Home in Meerut. He also said that the SP, Ghaziabad had been instructed to trace the six missing girls from the home immediately. Dr Dube also informed that very soon he would be meeting Home Secretary, UP to constitute a task force in tracing these girls. An FIR has also been lodged against the officials of that illegal NGO. Custodial death case: CBI court convicts six policemen

Ghaziabad, (PTI) A special CBI court here has convicted six policemen for their role in a 7-year-old custodial death case. Special CBI judge A K Singh however acquitted a police constable in the case. The accused police personnel had in May 7, 1995 tried to detain Raju along with eight other persons suspecting them of being robbers, prosecution said. They tried to escape, however, except Raju, rest were caught by the police. Raju jumped into a river and was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment. The police claimed Raju was a robber, who along with others, jumped into the river in order to evade arrest and was seriously injured. Cash stolen from Ghaziabad sub-registrar's office

Ghaziabad:  Cash amounting to  R s. 14.25 lakh was found stolen from the district office in Ghaziabad  recently, police said. The money was kept in a cash box in the sub-registrar's office. The incident came to light in the morning when the sweeper came to clean the office and found the main gate open and the lock damaged. A case has been lodged and security increased at the office, a police officer said.  The city magistrate would probe the incident and departmental action would be initiated if any official was found guilty of negligence, said the police official. "The office watchman is absent for three days. He may have a role in the incident. We are questioning other employees too," said Superintendent of Police SS Yadav.
