Ghaziabad administration ready to conduct free and fare local body polls


Ghaziabad: With the issuance of notification for local urban body polls, the Ghaziabad district administration is all set to conduct free and fare elections.
As per the guidelines of the election commission, the Ghaziabad district administration has constituted a committee for putting a check on money power in the polls.
The Chief Development Officer-headed five members committee comprising Senior Superintendent of Police, SDM of municipal body concerned, Assistant Commissioner, Entertainment Tax and Assistant Information Director has been constituted for the supervision of materials used by the parties in poll campaigns.
Uttar Pradesh Joint Election Commissioner Jai Prakash Singh has issued guidelines in which it has been said that the political parties use TV channels, Cable TV Network, Radio and other electronic mediums in their poll campaigns.
The committee has been formed to ensure that no objectionable materials can be used in the poll campaigns.
Similarly, DM-headed three members committee has been formed to put a restraint on the misuse of money in the poll campaigns.
As per the guidelines of the EC, the record will be prepared for money spent on poll campaign starting from the date of nomination filed by the candidate till the declaration of poll results.

GDA, builders unite to decongest Raj Nagar Extension

GHAZIABAD: Builders in  Raj Nagar Extension  and the Ghaziabad Development Authority  (GDA) have joined hands to put an end to congestion woes in the area. The move would give a breather to the people commuting through the area and builders believe that this will entice more people into buying a property in the area. "To execute the proposed traffic decongestion plan for NH 58 and other roads in Ghaziabad,  GDA  has decided to complete these works in association with Raj Nagar Extension Developers Association," said Gaurav Gupta, spokesperson of the Association. Mr Gupta added, "The authorities propose to restructure of the NH-58 stretch - from Meerut-crossing (near new bus stand) to ALT-cut."  The builder and GDA team will undertake maintenance of the road and close down illegal cuts on the road (used for taking U-tunr) which have been the main reason behind the mess.
