NCPCR lodges FIR against Ghaziabad NGO


A team from NCPCR, led by its member Dr. Yogesh Dube, visited Ghaziabad District on the June 4 and busted the NGO's illegal functioning.

Dr Yogesh Dube, who is also the Chairman, Core Committee on Child Rights in Uttar Pradesh, informed after the illegal home was exposed by the Commission, that the children have been safely transferred to Government Children’s Home in Rampur and Government Children’s Home in Meerut.

He also said that the SP, Ghaziabad had been instructed to trace the six missing girls from the home immediately.

Dr Dube also informed that very soon he would be meeting Home Secretary, UP to constitute a task force in tracing these girls.

An FIR has also been lodged against the officials of that illegal NGO.

The visit was necessitated following the death of five children. The Commission also felt that the lives of hundreds were in danger in Maharajapur village.

Altogether, 250 child labourers were rescued from Ghaziabad.

The team led by Dr. Yogesh Dube visited the Home where the case of 6 absconding girls had been reported. A fresh inquiry committee has been ordered by the Commission comprising Magistrate, civil society and the CWC.

During the visit it was found that the records were ill-kept and the Home, which had been relocated three times in the recent past, did not have the requisite rent agreement.

The house which had the sanctioned strength of 30 children solely lacked infrastructure that comprised of one poorly ventilated room with two beds, 3 toilets out of which only one was in order, one recreational room and a kitchen.

The house had 7 staff members out of which 4 are male. There was no provision for vocational training nor was there any nurse or doctor present. No rations are stocked in the observation home, and the food for the children comes from outside.

In the course of the visit, it was brought to light that the home, that ought to be only housing girls in conflict with law, had previously housed girls on the direction of the previous DPO Rajeev Sharma.

Autos back on Ghaziabad roads on Monday despite strike called by union

Auto rickshaws were seen plying on city roads on Monday. (TOI Photo) GHAZIABAD: Three-wheeler autos -- including 3+1 seaters and 6+1 seaters -- have been plying in regular fashion since Monday morning in Ghaziabad despite an indefinite strike called by the union. Autos were seen ferrying passengers at the Vaishali metro station, the terminal point of the metro line in Ghaziabad, on Monday. Ghaziabad Metro phase-2 project hangs fire over funding

GHAZIABAD: The second phase of Ghaziabad's ambitious Metro project -from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to New Bus Stand -is facing uncertainty over funding.  Principal secretary (housing) and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) chairman Sadakant Shukla on Monday said the UP government had not allocated any funds for the project in its budget and the state agencies that had promised to partly fund the Rs 2,208 crore project were now backing out.  However, modalities are being worked out for ensuring the ongoing Metro work is not affected due to paucity of funds and a decision is likely to be taken soon in Lucknow over external funding for the project if state government agencies failed to pay up their share of costs, Shukla said.  In fact, the Metro project is being jointly funded by the Centre, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the UP government.
